A Federal Court has vacated a suit challenging the appointment of Dr. Basilia Igbokwe as the 9th substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

The case, brought by the Kingdom Human Rights Foundation against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other respondents, was dismissed on Monday, 23rd September 2024.

The Polytechnic community and Imo State have long anticipated Dr. Igbokwe’s official unveiling.

Known for her trailblazing leadership, she is set to be formally presented as Rector at a ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, 24th September, at the institution’s 1000-capacity auditorium.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) responded to recent media reports questioning the legality of Dr. Igbokwe’s appointment, reaffirming that her leadership was lawfully constituted.

Dr. Igbokwe secured the top position in the institution’s rectorship contest, and her appointment was confirmed by President Tinubu, who issued her an official letter of appointment.

The PRO urged the public to disregard the misleading reports and embrace the new leadership, marking a new chapter for Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

The ceremony tomorrow promises to be the beginning of a fresh era for the institution under Dr. Igbokwe’s leadership.
