Islamic Clerics Commend Jubril Dotun Sanusi For Maulud Nabbiy Celebration, Urge Emulation of Prophet Muhammad’s Virtues

As Muslims across the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, Islamic clerics in Oyo State have called on believers to adopt the prophet’s virtues of truthfulness, tolerance, and humility in their daily lives.

The appeal was made during the maiden Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi Maulud Nabbiy celebration, which drew thousands of faithful to the Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort in Ibadan.

The event, held at the resort’s vast stadium, saw attendees from Ibadan, Ibarapa, Oyo, Oke-Ogun, and Ogbomoso areas.

Sheikh Ismail Busari Okunmeebo, the Grand Mufti of Oyo State, emphasised the importance of following Prophet Muhammad’s example of peaceful coexistence and compassion, values he said are crucial for a harmonious society.

The celebration, organised by prominent businessman and philanthropist Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, marked a significant moment of reflection and prayer for the Muslim community.

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere, led a special prayer session in appreciation of Sanusi’s unwavering support for Islamic causes in the state.

Sanusi, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, who has hosted numerous Islamic programs at the Ilaji Resort’s ultramodern mosque, expressed his commitment to making the Maulud Nabbiy celebration an annual event.

He urged Muslims to embody the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, highlighting key virtues such as honesty, mercy, patience, and the pursuit of knowledge.

The event also featured the presence of several Islamic scholars, notable Imams, and dignitaries, including Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCIII), and leaders from various community groups and Islamic organizations.

In his sermon, Sheikh Okunmeebo reiterated the significance of truthfulness and tolerance in the Prophet’s life.

Meanwhile, Prof. Kamil Oloso, Chief of Staff to the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, dispelled misconceptions about Prophet Muhammad, stating his commitment to peace, even with non-Muslims.
