Sheikh Gumi Refutes Claims of Political Involvement In Northern Nigeria’s Insecurity

Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has dismissed accusations that politicians are behind the surge of insecurity in northern Nigeria, particularly in the North-West.

Northern region has witnessed a rise in banditry and violence, with recent incidents leading to numerous deaths, including that of the monarch of Gobir in Sokoto State.

Some have speculated that political figures may be fueling the violence for their own benefit.

However, Sheikh Gumi refuted these claims, labeling them as “unintelligent.”

He asserted that no politician, including those in opposition, is backing the unrest.

According to Gumi, the violence stems from longstanding neglect and lack of education in the region.

He stated that these marginalised groups, now exposed to the world and the Internet, are realising how deprived they have been and are reacting to this disparity.
