Ajuri Ngelale Steps Down As Presidential Media Adviser, Citing Family Health Concerns

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

His decision, detailed in a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday, comes as he faces pressing medical challenges within his immediate family.

Ngelale, who also held the roles of Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, explained that he had formally notified the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of his decision to proceed on indefinite leave.

In his statement, Ngelale stated that the decision to step down followed extensive discussions with his family. He highlighted that a worsening medical condition at home had necessitated his full attention.

“While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision — entailing a pause of my functions as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen — was taken after significant consultations with my family,” Ngelale explained.

He expressed hope of returning to his duties when circumstances improve and asked for privacy during this challenging period.
