SatguruSatguru Maharaj Ji, the Living Perfect Master and Founder of the One Love Family, has issued a stern warning to two suspended Dukes of the Benin Kingdom, emphasising that their legal action against the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, is not just inappropriate but a cultural taboo.
Maharaj Ji’s statement follows the recent lawsuit filed by Prof Gregory Akenzua and Chief Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen, who were suspended from their respective positions as Dukes of Evbuobanosa and Egbaen Siluko.
The suspended dukes, acting on behalf of several others, had challenged their removal in an Edo State High Court, arguing that only the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had the authority to dismiss them, not the revered monarch.
The court has since admitted the Benin Traditional Council as a party to the suit.
Reacting, Satguru Maharaj Ji, through his Divine Minister of Information, Ojo Mogbadewa, condemned the actions of the chiefs, describing them as a serious affront to the traditions and values of the Benin Kingdom.
He gave the suspended chiefs a 77-day ultimatum to apologise to Oba Ewuare II for their perceived disrespect, warning that their actions amounted to a grave insult to the cultural heritage of the Binis.
Maharaj Ji highlighted the deep historical and spiritual significance of the Benin throne, which he described as a sacred institution that commands respect not only within Nigeria but also internationally.
He lamented the growing trend of political interference in traditional matters, questioning whether the influence of modern governance should overshadow the timeless authority of the Oba.
According to Maharaj Ji, “The Obaship stool of Benin is eternal, and it must be treated with the utmost reverence. The current situation, fueled by political ambitions, is a direct attack on our heritage, which has stood the test of time.”
He urged all parties involved to recognise the sanctity of the throne and respect the traditional values that have guided the Benin people for generations.
