Chief Adegoroye Ige Adubi Agbefagoriite, the esteemed General Oluawo for Ibadanland and Mogaji Olu Oje of Oje Ibadan, has passionately advocated for the recognition and celebration of Isese as a vital cultural tradition.
The prominent traditionalist made this remark during the celebration of Isese Day held at he main bowl of Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, on Tuesday.
He emphasized that Isese, representing the core values, virtues, and knowledge of Yoruba progenitors, holds profound significance in the lives of people.
Chief Adubi stressed that Isese is the foundation of existence and should not be taken lightly, underscoring the importance of marking Isese Day annually.
Chief Adubi further highlighted the universal relevance of Isese, noting that all tribes and nationalities have their own unique ways of celebrating their cultural and traditional heritage.
He explained that Isese is not only about the Yoruba people but also about the broader essence of cultural identity and the evolution of human existence.
The traditional leader expressed his gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support and for officially recognizing Isese Day with a public holiday.
He offered prayers for the Governor’s continued success and appealed for the creation of a special board, hospital, and an enabling environment where the traditional knowledge and expertise of Isese practitioners can be utilized for the benefit of society.
