Nigerian authorities have been reportedly apprehended Bashir Hadeja, a prominent businessman from Kaduna State, on charges of treason, arms trafficking, and other severe transnational crimes.
Hadeja’s arrest, which has sent shockwaves through the political and business spheres, was triggered by intelligence reports linking him to the smuggling of weapons and gold bars allegedly stolen from the Central Bank of Libya.
Hadeja, already under suspicion for money laundering, is now also accused of using his wealth and influence to undermine the government.
According to reports, he played a significant role in facilitating terrorism across northern Nigeria, working closely with a network of sponsors, including politicians from both northern and southern Nigeria.
Under intense interrogation, Hadeja reportedly admitted to funding the recent #EndBadGovernance protests that rocked Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Abuja. He also confessed to orchestrating an attack on the APC headquarters in Jigawa State.
Authorities discovered a cache of incriminating documents in Hadeja’s possession, including forged identification papers, tracking information on high-profile individuals, and an international passport from Vanuatu set to expire in 2030.
A video surfaced during the investigation, showing Hadeja flaunting gold bars adorned with the likeness of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, further implicating him in international criminal activities.
As the investigation deepens, Hadeja has reportedly begun naming his collaborators, including a former high-ranking official from the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
His arrest is expected to lead to a series of high-profile detentions and revelations about the shadowy network of criminals he allegedly worked with.
