2024 Children’s Day Celebration: Hon. Adebisi Doles Out Scholarships, Gifts To Constituency’s Students

In celebration of this year’s Children’s Day, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan South West constituency 1, has demonstrated his commitment to the education and future of young minds.

At an event specially organised for children in his constituency on Monday, at Abiola Jacobs Primary School, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Oyo state capital, Mr Adebisi bestowed the gift of education upon Rodiat Ayegbajeje and ten other students from his constituency, ensuring they receive scholarships to pursue tertiary education.

Despite facing early adversity, Rodiat, who lost her father at a tender age, will now have the opportunity to realise her dreams from primary school all the way to university.

Additionally, recognising the importance of nurturing talent at an early stage, the lawmaker provided two years of scholarship to ten graduating secondary school students for their National Diploma (ND) programs.

Also, ten students received scholarships to take the upcoming Common Entrance Examination in the state.

Some of the beneficiary students of the Common Entrance Examination scholarship include Olawale Iseoluwa, Oguntimeyin Aanu, Joy Adewumi, Farouk Olayiwola, Muritala Mohammed and Quyum Lasisi.

Apart from doling out scholarships, various gifts were also distributed to 500 students from various Primary schools in the constituency.

Addressing his constituents, Mr Adebisi, while pledging to sustain the programme, emphasised the significance of investing in children, highlighting education as the key to unlocking future opportunities.

He commended the support of the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his political party (PDP) for their assistance in realising his vision.

Encouraging the students to embrace their potential, the chairman, House Committee of Youth in the state assembly urged them to remain focused on their goals, cautioning against negative influences that could derail their paths to success.

The legislator, while distributing Children’s Day gifts to 500 students from various primary schools in the constituency, pledged to sustain the programme.

Earlier, Rita Owasuyi-Omowa, representing the state sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), advised students to emulate role models in their chosen professions, and steer clear of immoral behavior.

She educated them about road safety, emphasising the importance of traffic rules, visibility at night, and avoiding distractions while crossing roads.

Ms Owasuyi-Omowa commended Hon. Adebisi for organising the event, stating its significance in promoting education among children.

Similarly, Hon. Moruf Balogun, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South West Local Government, praised Mr Adebisi for representing the constituency well in the state House of Assembly.

Mr Balogun encouraged students to stay focused and aspire for greatness.

The highlight of the event, which also had the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, in attendance, included a range of activities such as gift presentations, quiz competitions, dancing, and face painting, creating a joyful atmosphere for all attendees.
